Asthma education comes to Washingtonville!
Due to an overwhelmingly positive response to asthma education seminars given to both Little Britain Elementary staff and parents, the seminars will be continued.
Thanks to the hard work and kindness of the faculty, staff, PTA and families of Little Britain Elementary as well as Bill Browne, our asthma educator, the remainder of the school district will have the opportunity to participate. These educational seminars are designed to help all who come achieve a greater understanding of asthma, as well as to dispel the myths that surround it.
Our intention is to keep fighting for education so it will be available in every school in the Hudson Valley. Though only in a small area, if the seminars are successful, they will demonstrate the effectiveness of education. This will help us to push for a state-wide initiative.
We Went to D.C.!
On June 4-5th we participated in the 2009 United States E.P.A. National Asthma Forum. What an eye-opener!
Present were the top minds in research as well as lawmakers who champion asthma care. We were given the honor of setting the tone for the forum by sharing the story of our loss.
We are now working with contacts we made there to find new ways to help asthmatics in a more personal manner.
Let's see what the future brings.
Luncheon/Art Auction
On May 2nd, we held an art auction and luncheon at Pamela's on the Hudson in Newburgh, NY. It was a beautiful day and we had a great turnout! More than 75 people came to enjoy an afternoon of excellent food, fantastic entertainment and wonderful art.
Thanks to all of our attendees, we raised more than $4,000 for Michael De Luca's Memorial Fund to benefit the Children's Hospital Foundation at Maria Fareri's Children Hospital.
Special thanks go to: Pamela's on the Hudson, DJ Tim E, and The Landscape, Home and Design Center.
